What HOF pitcher from NY team (not Yanks) has the same number of strike outs as hits given up?

Only two Hall of Fame pitchers have accomplished that feat. Both played parts of their careers in New York, but neither would be identified primarily for their play while in the Big Apple. They are:
- Nolan Ryan - 5,714 Ks, 3,923 Hits (amazing)
- Sandy Koufax - 2,396 Ks, 1,754 Hits (first three seasons were in Brooklyn).

In addition, Tom Seaver was VERY close, with 3,640 Ks, and 3,971 Hits. Hoyt Wilhelm and Rube Waddell were also fairly close.

Dave Williams, a lefty teamate from his Taunton Massachusetts team. John McGraw could not have hired Negro League pitcher Rube Foster to teach him because he learned it before becoming a Giant. Rube Foster taught the pitch to Buddy Holly's dad instead. lol.

Both of the stats pages I rely on show Mathewson with 2,502 strikeouts and 4,218 hits allowed. Are you sure of your figures?

My source is the book Players of Coopersown by Publications International, Ltd. 1997. I'll verify those stats now. I thought it was an interesting stat but maybe it's a mistake, a typo. You all get consolation prizes. I'll get back to you.

You got it! But meanwhile I can't find anything to back up these stats. I'll keep trying. Here's a link on Christy:
