I like Buddy Gil a lot. He's tough. I will definitely use him in my exotic bets. I am going to focus on trifectas and exactas since Empire Maker is so short-priced at 6-5.

I still like Empire Maker to win.

I will now issue my standard disclaimer: My record in the Kentucky Derby is dismal. I've won money on it maybe twice in the last twelve years or so. So don't go betting your kid's college fund on my picks. The Preakness is a different story. I'm much better with the Preakness. ;)

I was rooting for AtswhatImtalknabout and Buddy Gil but neither of them came close. I was glad Lucky Cide won though. NY pride baby!

Well, that didn't turn out quite the way I'd hoped. Still, I threw a deuce on Funny Cide across the board, and I did put him into my exacta stew with Empire Maker on top, so I'm not walking away empty-handed. All in all, not bad. I've had worse Derbies. :D

I'd love to know: what the hell happened to Ten Most Wanted? I barely heard his name throughout the whole race.

That was a rather surprising finish! I didn't bet on the race, but certainly didn't expect that. Well, good for Funny Cide and Barclay Tagg anyway. :)
