There's something here too ...

Milwaukee Brewers infielder and union executive board member Mark Loretta told a reporter from MLB.com that the strike deadline could be extended past 3:20 p.m. ET on Friday, the scheduled first pitch of the first game at Wrigley Field. Loretta said the players had not formally discussed the plan, but could if the sides seemed close to a deal.

The Cubs play the Cardinals in the first game that would be affected by a strike. A union official told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark that the union is unlikely to agree to an extension.

"I think that would have to be a decision at the last minute," Loretta is quoted as saying on MLB.com. "It could happen. Anything is possible at this point."
