I just thought this might be interesting. My league of U.K. baseball fans is holding an automated draft on the 15th in a 10-player HtH league, and I thought other forumers who have already held drafts in different leagues might like to post and discuss their draft results. I'll post mine at the weekend, but for now, does anyone want to share their team? (It would probably be helpful if you included the type of league - HtH, Roto, etc. - and number of teams involved.)

Be seeing you,

I had one autopick-draft..... in order to get at least one quality starter I put Piazza, I-Rod, LoDuca and Kendall into my top 20 pre-rankings... then I got Piazza, I-Rod and Kendall...still trying to trade away at least one.. (I only made these prerankings to be sure to get a great C.. hadn't had one for the entire 2001 season in any draft-leagues..)..

and I'm curious which of the following Shortstop you would pick... at the moment I have Gutierrez, but Cabrera and Womack are FA's.. who to take ?

An which not-famous pitchers do you think will have a great 2002 season, that now haven't been taken so far ? I have 3 10+ gamewinners (Lieber, Quantrill, J.Johnson) and some closers I might be willing to trade (Kline (ok, no closer in 02), Sasaki, Koch, Hernandez, Anderson)..

ok, if i had that dilemna i'd likely try to hold onto piazzaface and trade the other two for top (5th round or lower) players in return...

as for your other questions, i'll have to wait until our draft here before reveal the method to my madness... good luck...

Jeez, man, you're pretty hardcore! Are they all 10-team leagues? Each of your lineups is pretty damn scary - especially the infield on "Mutts Suck"! Piazza-Bagwell-ARod-Rolen gives me nightmares, especially since you've got arguably 2 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders there. Have you got incriminating photos of your rivals? ;)

For PS2, I'd recommend All-Star Baseball 2003 over Triple Play. Not as realistic as High Heat, but a lot more fun - you can create expansion franchises, plus the stadia look absolutely fantastic - you even get fans hanging out the 'K' signs during a game!

Be seeing you,

yup all 10 team pay leagues...

i tried a few different strategies in these leagues...

for boston blows, i drafted pitching first snagging schilling, rivera, delgado and hudson w/ the first 4 picks, and somehow still managed to snag berns and posada in later rounds... i'm not too fond of my 2b so i sangeed larkin from the freeagent pool based on reports he may move to 2b at some point this seas... i'm also considerrin marcus giles from the chopheads... he's gotta lil pop...

for boston sucks i was last in the draft but still managed to snag jete, bags, green and a decent starting rotation... this is likely my most balenaced team, but even soi'm tinkerring having already made a trade offer of bags for bonds...

for mutts suck my personal pride and joy, i had the first pick and said eff it and went for the jugular picking premium sluggers snaggin arod and piazza before anyone else even took a non pitcher... then i snagged bags and tejada before i took my first sp in garcia then rp in izzy... i was lucky to get casey, rolen, vidro and floyd and took a chance on vaughn... my pitchin's thin and of shaky, but i have enough depth especially at ss and 1st to make some moves later in ST... this is the big money league, i got $250 ridin on this team...

Okay, here's my team. 4x4 Head to Head play against 9 other Brits (it's the same league as last year's, which I destroyed rather handily). Automated draft, so don't yell at me too loud, but my SS-SP-C-RP tactic seemed to do all right again.

Saxman's Scimitars

C Ivan Rodriguez
1B Frank Thomas
2B Jeff Kent
SS Alex Rodriguez
3B Aramis Ramirez
OF Gary Sheffeld
OF Garret Anderson
OF Mike Cameron
DH Ellis Burks

SP Kevin K. Brown
SP Matt Morris
SP Ramon Ortiz
SP Shawn Estes
RP Kazuhiro Sasaki
RP Troy Percival
RP Roberto Hernandez

Bench:
C Jason Varitek
1B Sean Casey
OF Jermaine Dye
OF Doug Glanville
P Hideo Nomo
P Mike Remlinger

I haven't checked the free agents list yet, but I'll need a 2B for the next few weeks while Kent recovers.

I like my pitching, first off - Brown's a gamble, but Morris should be good stuff, and Sasaki + Percival should = saves. Good to great infield, depending on Ramirez and Kent, but the outfield is a little power-light. Not too many steals in this team, either. My bench is pretty good - a decent C, some outfield power, and Nomo could be useful. Any and all advice appreciated - this is only my second year, after all.

EDIT - Trying to pick up Joe Mays from free agency, probably to replace Ortiz in the lineup. Eric Young will have to do at 2nd until Kent recovers.

I like to do all my drafts live, but it means sitting around for a good two hours cuz people don't show up, but here is what I have so far:

For NY Coneys:

C - Mike Lieberthal (Phillies)
1B - Tino Martinez (Cards) :D
2B - Alfonso Soriano (Yanks)
3B - Eric Chavez (A's)
SS - David Eckstein (Angels)
OF - Bernie Williams (Yanks)
OF - Jim Edmonds (Cards)
OF - Tim Salmon (Angels)
Bench - So Taguchi (Cards)
Bench - John Olerud (Mariners)
Bench - Brian Jordan (Dodgers)
Bench - Jeremy Giambi (A's)
Bench - Chuck Knoblauch (Royals)
Starting Pitcher - Pedro Martinez (Bosox)
Starting Pitcher - Tim Hudson (A's)
Starting Pitcher - Ben Sheets (Brewers)
Starting Pitcher - Aaron Sele (Angels)
Relief Pitcher - Mariano Rivera (Yanks)
Relief Pitcher - Mike Stanton (Yanks)
Relief Pitcher - Arthur Rhodes (Mariners)
Relief Pitcher - Joel Pineiro (Mariners)

Okay, I know I'm taking a massive chance on Salmon being healthy after last year and I know Taguchi ain't the next Ichiro. But I figure Knobby's still good for SBs. And I'm in a league that's apparently possessed by other Yankees fans cuz after the first round, Moose, Clemens, Jeter, Giambi are all off the shelf. Damn it, Pedro be healthy for once!!! :D

I heard I-Rod is living up to his nickname, "Pudge". Scouts are saying that he reported to camp 20 pounds overweight due to his bum knee.

i think hall should be a decent back-up atleast.

I just got offered Joel Piniero for Kevin K. Brown! I realise Piniero's a good rookie who could be a #3 or even a #2 starter in the future, but even with Brown's injuries, he's a potential 2.50 ERA waiting to happen. It's not a keeper league.

Needless to say, I declined the trade. Any other barmy trades going around?

I don't think he'll play the necessary number of games at first to be activated at yahoo's fantasy baseball very early. I think the players must start like 15 games on a position to be activated. That could last one or two months. The White Sox already have a very good (defensive) first baseman in Paul Konerko. And Thomas had a hard injury.. don't expect him to be activated 1st before May...
