I was born in Lawrence, Mass in 1876...

I pitched nine 1-0 shutouts in my career...And even managed to get myself on the Yankees...After walking 9 consecutive batters, I got a $10 fine and a new nickname...And the new nickname was NOT part of my pitching style...I was one of the most popular baseball men of my era.

Who am I ?

OK...a hint...

He was accused of having some knowledge of the attempt to throw the 1919 World Series but was vindicated by Commisioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis and sent an apology from his accuser, Wm. Baker, President of the Philadelphia Phillies.

He died, tragically, in a train wreck in 1923
