View Full Version : Rivera, Johnson combine for four homers

The Clippers lost tonight, 15-10, to the Charlotte Knights, but who cares? The important thing is that Nick Johnson and Juan Rivera each hit a pair of home runs - the fifteenth and sixteenth homers for Johnson, and the eighth and ninth AAA dingers for Rivera. Between Norwich and Columbus, Rivera has 23 home runs. Since his promotion to Columbus, he actually has a higher batting average and slugging percentage while slightly (but only slightly) increasing his walk rate. Good stuff!

What about all those Columbus fans? :D

I wonder if the Yanks are considering having Rivera play winter ball. They probably don't envision him starting next year, but if he finishes off this year strong and has a good Spring, who knows?

I still wonder how both of these guys do so well in a lineup stacked with Darren Braggs, Clay Bellingers, and Scott Seabols.

Scott Seabol is with Norwich Even though Juan Rivera is with Columbus B.A selected him as the best batting prospect Eastern League:cool:

They actually played a doubleheader yesterday, and Nick Johnson tacked on another home run, his 17th of the year, in the second game. Keisler went 7 innings and allowed just one run in the 6-1 victory.

Looked up Juan Rivera's AAA OPS on Baseball America - it's now 1.060! Yikes! .381 OBP and an unbelievable .679 slugging. The guy has power.
