Anyone know what time the parking lots open before a weeknight game?
The garage lots actually open in the morning as they allow 'commuters' etc to park there.

On the site it says 4 hours before but I've been to some games about 5 or 6 ahead of time. Lot 13B represent!

How quick do lots fill? Is it tough getting out after a game?

I usually go to 13B early to I can see batting practice, so I don't know how quickly it fills up. It is easy to get out of that lot after a game, though you might have to go South on the deegan for one exit and then turn around at the next exit to get going North.
If you are worried about getting out after the game, avoid the indoor lot at all costs. I made the mistake of parking in the indoor lot a few years ago, and it took us over an hour to get out of the lot.

Okay. Thank you. :)
Also, the traffic is horrific after day games, but not bad at all after night games. Lot 13 is definitely your best bet, though, if you don't mind walking up a few flights of stairs.
We are going to the game tomorrow afternoon (7/30). I know traffic is bad after day games. Does anyone know a better way out of NYC afterward to get to North Jersey? I'd really appreciate any help people can give. (a better way than taking the Cross-Bronx to the GWB)

All I know, is that they put in an automated paying system in the parking lots now and today, it took me and hour and a half to leave the parking lot. Normally, no more than 30 mins, but today was redic because of this new automatic system. nothing was wrong with the old system, why the hell did they change it
i actually left in the 7th inning last night because of the new retarded parking system.

Are you kidding me? Can you explain it a little more...what do you mean by an automated paying system?
Guess it's the train for me every time. ugh.

They give you a ticket when you enter the lot, you have to pay at a machine, then put the ticket in another machine to get out. If you lose the ticket, you have to pay again to leave the lot.

. Yes, please, more info. Are you all saying you now pay when you're leaving instead of entering? Is there any kind of delay going into the lot?

Wha? Why on earth would they make that change now? Mindboggling insanity.

They want people to lose their tickets and make more money. :dunno: It's not a big ticket either...I'd say it's a little smaller than a business card.

They do something like this at the Yankee Clipper ferry and people always get confused leaving not putting the ticket in the right way. Not me though, never. :o

The only thing I can think of is that they want to keep a computer tally of a)how many parking vouchers were issued and b)how many cars are still in the lot at any given time (possibly to ensure the lot is empty).
Also possibly to charge additional fees to morning commuters who may have overstayed their time limit.
How the hell do they allow commuters to park in the lots when they have to start allowing fans to park at 4-4:30? I'm glad I haven't had any use for those lots in a few years.

I'd like to know too.
I planned on driving in but if it's going to be a disaster I guess I'll take the train even though it's a pain for me (coming from MA).

It will be a joke trying to get out of the lots now with the new exit ticket. I parked in 8 last night and it wasn't too bad b/c the game was a blow-out. However, I can well imagine the backup and delay it will create tomorrow after OTD. Ugh! I can't believe they did this--totally fan unfriendly!

I'm going to be going the stadium next week for the first time in a month. Can anyone confirm or deny whether lot 13B has been affected by this?
Thanks.

As of Old Timer's Day (8/2) lot 13B was the same as always, no automated paying system to be found.

As of Sunday, the 13 lots are all as they were before. I think it's just the parking garages.

I'm headed down to the game from MA on Saturday. Can anyone tell me the best lot for coming from that direction and also for leaving and getting back to 95? thanks

Once you hit the Bronx, from 95 south, take Interstate 278 (Bruckner Expressway).
278 will turn into 87 North. Stay on 87 and take the Grand Concourse exit.
Take the Grand Concourse to 161st Street and make a right.
After 2 lights, past Sheridan Ave., there is a shopping center on the right side. You can't miss it. You will park here, there is a large underground lot. It is safe, many people going to the game use this lot. It is a short walk on 161st St. to the Stadium.
Reverse this to head home.
You can also take 95 South all the way to 87 south but the traffic will be much worse, especially going home.
Check 880 and 1010 am for traffic reports.
