I'd like to think we were spoiled a bit last year and while I know it's still early and we're missing ARod and Po, I guess I'd post it. This isn't taking into account tonight's game.

Inning Ahead Tied Behind
+------+---------------+---------------+---------------+
1 17-18 .486
2 7-4 .636 8-7 .533 2-7 .222
3 7-4 .636 8-7 .533 2-7 .222
4 7-3 .700 9-5 .643 1-10 .091
5 11-3 .786 5-1 .833 1-14 .067
6 12-1 .923 1-2 .333 4-15 .211
7 13-1 .929 3-1 .750 1-16 .059
8 15-1 .938 2-2 .500 0-15 .000
9 17-0 1.000 0-2 .000 0-16 .000

1-9/1-13 record trailing after 4 and 5 innings respectively is kinda awful.

For comparisons sake..here's Boston's.

That's an interesting presentation. It supports that theory that things are locked up when Girardi can hand the ball to Joba and Mo, but if we're trailing, we're screwed.

But is that the fault of the bullpen or the offense? I wouldn't mind seeing this data only for games in which both teams lead or trail by 4 runs.

I agree that this is good info and confirms a gut feeling about the team. Yet these numbers may change -- I'm curious how the numbers might change, say from April to May? Or if there are changes to the team?

I guess we'll have to stay tuned ...

Difference in the standings?
Take a look at the 8th inning on, the Sox are 4-11 when trailing after in the 8th inning, which actually is a freaking great record in that scenario.
We are 0 for that situation.
If someone told me tomorrow we could have a win in 25% of the games where we are down in the 8th, I would state without a doubt we'd win 100 games and have the best overall league record. If you can win 1 out of every 4 games when you are down in the 8th, that is great work..

I am not confident in Yankee wins even before the game starts. I'd love for them to change my mind.

Just to clarify, these stats indicate the Yankees' record at the start of the inning listed, not past a particular inning. With that said, the 8th inning stat reads 0-20, meaning they have lost every single game in which they were trailing after 7. That's pathetic. At least they haven't lost any while leading after 8.

Why would a team that stinks ever be expected to comeback?

2-10 when trailing after the 2nd inning. To me that says more than the 1-21 after the 7th.
