Andy Pettitte has been scratched from today's start because of minor muscle irritation in his left arm.
The Yankees ay it is not serious and Andy should make his next start and will be available as normal for the start of the regular season..

Well, while the Yankees are downplaying it, a left handed pitcher with pain in his left arm scares the living you know what out of me..

well, the fact that we were relatively healthy was too good to be true anyhow

Manager Joe Girardi heavily emphasized that the ailment is minor. Pettitte is not being sent for any tests, and Girardi said he would start if it were the regular season. In fact, Pettitte pushed to make the start Wednesday against the Rays.

"They're extremely cautious here, and I guess it's a good thing," Pettitte said.

Very true. But after last year, I can understand someone being uneasy

Yes, but..

This is one of the two guys we are looking to get 200 innings from and he was already a bit behind when camp opened. For him to miss anyy time at all is a really bad thing, and he is no spring chicken, and has had some arm problems in the past..

I know the team is saying it is no big deal, but I a little freaked out about it to say the least.

Yup. The first thought that popped into my head when I saw the thread title was s***! Here we go again--and he was behind to begin with. Girardi's comments make me feel better, kind of...nothing like a paranoid Yankee fanatic. Now pardon me, I have to take a Xanax and close my office door for an hour...

This should not be much of a concern I don't think.

Spring training... I'm sure they're not pushing anything they don't have to. So, I'll worry about it when I have to start worry about it.

It's hard for me to tell if Pettitte's telling the truth for some reason....

Hm...now that I think about it - aren't we facing the Rays today?

Perhaps we need some scrub pitcher to...ahem..."take care of some business"

He has had elbow problems going back to 95, anyone think that the Yanks are holding him back b/c they are playing the Devil Rays after what happened on Sat?

This is another reason why the "kiddie corp" will be so important this year to yankee success. It'll be interesting to see just how minor Andy's injury is.;) ;)

pitcher + elbow = what could go wrong?

Rather than deal with Beane, I'd sign Lohse - unless the injury is a LOT more severe than we're hearing

1.He's not getting any younger

2. It's ST, why risk it?

3. Why would Girardi/Andy lie?

Relax.

They said left forearm, not elbow. Not sure if that makes a huge difference in my state of panic..

Karstens just pitched (I think)

Oh noes! Our pitchers are going down like they did last Spring. We don't even have Pavano to make the opening day start. This season is over.

He pitched the 6th inning yesterday. Or maybe that was Rasner? I always get them confused.

Sounds too much like "kiddie porn" so I submit that this is never used as another reference to the trio of Joba, Ian, & Phil.

As long as Pettite doesn't try to rush back. As we have seen, that never leads to anything good...

I think maybe Girardi wanted someone else in there to bean someone.

All out brawl ensues & then Yankee fans the world over realize why we signed Farnsworth as he proceeds to spear & piledrive half of the Rays lineup.

Heath just hit (brush back, really) a Ray and got ejected. *gasp*

On a completely unrelated note:

I think Girardi rocks.

Heath Phillips, starting in place of an injured Andy Pettitte, was ejected with two outs in the first after brushing Rays third baseman Evan Longoria across the chest with a pitch.

I doubt it... I think they are going to have him work in relief at the end of ST. I don't think they are going to deviate from the plan for one start
