I hope he gets the starting job for the Pirates.
I was in favor of resigning Mientkiewicz this off-season, but that wasn't an option considering we had enough 1B to begin with.
I wish him the best of luck in Pittsburgh.

Not likely he'll get the starting job with LaRoche there.

Very true, I forgot about LaRoche.
Well, in that case, it's a shame Doug signed with the Pirates of all teams, considering they have LaRoche at first.

He'd get more playing time with a single A league club. Doug has had a great career given his meager talent.

ouch:-poke-:
He'd make a great DH for the Bucs.
Doug and Josh Phelps together again!

I dont understand that if he was willing to sign a minor league contract why did we offer him over a million dollars last year? just goes to show how we grossly overpay
say what you will about the guy, but he played a stellar 1B. He was a pure joy to watch.

he's probably the best first baseman in the game.

Exactly ... we may be in the minority, but I love watching good 'D'... Dougie played excellent 'D'.
Good luck with the Pirates.
