View Full Version : Major League Balls

[/b]Hey, I'm part of this Yankee mailing list and one of the articles I found this article very interesting:[/b]

The 2000 baseballs may or may not be juiced, but they clearly are not
well-made, David Cone told reporters Thursday afternoon. The veteran
right-hander took a ball from a nearby locker in the Yankees clubhouse
and displayed how unusually inconsistent this year's stock has been. The
ball featured some seams that were frayed and others that were too thin,
and had off-center printing of "Major League Baseball" and commissioner
Bud Selig's signature.

"The quality of the ball is definitely down," said Cone. "There are a lot
of balls that are imperfect."

He said he wasn't blaming that for the high number of homers or anything
else -- he just wanted to point it out.

I wonder if poor quality = easier to hit.

Heh, I've been on that "mailing list" since 1997, still haven't gotten a damn thing...

But that is interesting that Coney was just "pointing it out"... lol!

I am on yankeeflyer2000@juno.com which sends out reports almost daily, if not every other day. It's a service through egroups.com, I think; here's the URL: http://YankeeFlyer.VirtualAve.net

Yeah, if you're talking the one through :NY:Yankees.com, I think I received one or two things about two years ago... and then nothing...:(
