YanksAZ posted a LOT of reasons in the Skins' Thread why he believes that Monk deserves the honor.
Please state why you voted the way you did. :)

I think that Monk certainly belongs in the HOF. He was never THE dominant receiver in any year but he played at a very high level for a LONG time.
I'd certainly vote for him.

Art Monk retired after 16 seasons in the NFL as the all-time receptions leader, single-season receptions leader, and all-time leader in most consecutive games. He was an integral part of four Super Bowl teams. Out of the seventeen wide receivers in the HOF, none have more catches than Monk. His omission is a travesty.

This is an outstanding video! It's 21 minutes long but it's worth the watch.
I definitely think he belongs in Canton when you view his entire career. He played a very high level for 16 years. Sixteen years, in the NFL is, in & of itself, amazing.
His year-to-year stats just weren't that jaw dropping but he did so many things, so very well, over such a long period of time, that his omission up to this date is really a horrible oversight.
I think Mr. Monk will eventually get in. I just hope that it's soon. I would have LOVED for him to have been a Packer! :gulp:

If you can watch that video (I've watched it several times) and still say no then please come within range for me to slap the damn taste out of your mouth.

He really did things that you can't measure. It was touched on in that video.
Monk would take catches over the middle. He was an outstanding blocker. He would take guys out of plays. He was a tremendous teammate and he led by example.
He did all these things for an incredibly long time.
The records that were broken were his records. He belongs in the HOF. :gulp:

If he isn't then I don't know what is.

I agree that Art Monk should eventually get in, but I feel that Andre Reed should get in before him.

Do you mean former Kutztown Golden Bear Andre Reed? ;)

:upset:
Reed will and should get in.
And probably before Monk.
*sigh*
Although he did play those 6 games for the Redskins. A big black mark on your resume in the minds of HoF voters.

Hey Casey, Mike, why not?
Honestly, I'd like hear why Arthur has no place in the HOF. :)

The stats will not look gaudy like today's WRs, but his numbers were very good in his era.
Monk was never a media guy and that has cost him. He talked less than Marvin Harrison does.
i said no.. he was an above avg receiver for a very long time.. that shouldn't be enough.. nobody ever feared getting beat by monk when they played the skins..

You need to take into account who he had throwing to him as well, though. 5 different quarterbacks, none of which will get into the HOF without first purchasing a ticket. How many other receivers can make similar claims?
